Live Without Regrets
If you could live your life over again what would you do differently?
Would you eat right, get a better education, marry a different spouse, live more fully for God?
What is it that really matters?
Samson started out strong. His credentials were amazing. Samson had a lifelong Nazarite commitment that dedicated him to the Lord’s service and set him apart for the people. However, he was headstrong and chose his own path.
The woman Samson loved betrayed him four times.
“She said, “The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” And he awoke from his sleep and said, “I will go out as at other times and shake myself free.” But he did not know that the Lord had departed from him.” Judges 16:20
The results were devastating. His eyes were gouged out, and he became a prisoner, bound with bronze chains.
What a wake-up call. Samson had many opportunities before God departed from him. Life changed dramatically. Humiliation is a hard lesson, and yet it is so valuable.
Then Samson called to the Lord and said, “O Lord God, please remember me and please strengthen me just this time, O God, that I may at once be avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.” Judges 16:28
The Lord’s strength returned to Samson, and he caused the pillars to collapse. God destroyed many of the enemies while sacrificing his own life.
Looking at Samson and his incredible strength, you may say: “he blew it; he failed!”
What does the Bible say?
“And what more shall I say? For time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthat, of David and Samuel and the prophets, who by faith conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight.“ Hebrews 11:32-34 NASB
God does not focus on your life in regrets, but in how you can be made strong from your weaknesses, and longs to turn them into a strength.
What is it that you need to do to turn to God just like Samson and say use me? Help me to live for you! Is there something that stands in the way? What is it that you need to do to draw close to God? Samson waited and it cost him dearly. Don’t wait; turn to God right now.
