Dressed For Success: Doubt

Barb Marshall: Your Real Deal Christian Mentor

Doubt comes in many shapes and forms. “Am I doing the right thing? Should I stay or leave this relationship. Is GOD real? Am I good enough for GOD? Does God really love me? If God is real, why does HE not answer my prayers?  Doubt comes in many ways. One of the strategies Satan uses is doubt. Doubt makes you question, wonder, hesitate and stop you in your tracks. Doubt can block incredible opportunities that God has in store for you.

Who do you need to forgive? Let us help by praying with you.

Thomas was not there when Jesus met with the disciples after HIS resurrection. And when the disciples told him: “Jesus is Alive,” he did not believe them.
When Jesus met again with the disciples, Thomas was there too. Jesus responded to Thomas his words of doubt from eight days earlier. Doubt tries to creep in, confuse you and have you change your mind. Doubt feeds what the eyes have seen. With Thomas it was Jesus his brutal crucifixion and torture. When doubt creeps in it takes away the faith and super natural ability that with God nothing is impossible.
But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples were saying to him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”
Super Natural
After eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors having been ]shut, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.” Then He said to Thomas, “Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing.” Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed.”
– John 20: 24-29

Gladys Aylward was told over and over again that she was not qualified to go to China including by the missionary board that had an establishment in China. But she knew the calling God had for her. Fear of the unknown, poverty, frustration, and insecurity did not stop her. When she finally arrived in China, it was not at all what she had expected it was going to be like. Over time, she was ministered as a foot specialist, prisoners advocate, and criminal nurse in the mountains. God used her mightily in China. God used her to change a mayor, a prisoner, a town; she ended up saving many children during the war. The devils strategy to stop this calling was discouragement, insecurity, poverty, no support, and most of all doubt. It did not work. When I started to see and believe that Jesus is the same today as yesterday, doubt tried to confuse, destroy, and stop me. This lasted a whole year after I already was a Christian for over twenty years. Finally, when I started to see how doubt tried to pull me away from seeing the power of Jesus alive and active, I refused to give into this and it left.

Many believe in God in a logic way, instead of the super natural. Believing is not just GOD as logical but super natural. The more time, You spent in God’s presence, the closer you will draw to Him. When doubt showed up, reflect back on what God has already done for you. For me that was: recovery after seventeen years from an eating disorder and restored my marriage after divorced for almost two years, seeing lives changed, many moments and occurrence with what Jesus is capable of today. AND the biggest one of all the miracle of being forgiven and saved by grace.

Life Changing Tip:  Do not let your circumstance determine the outcome; trust God determine the results. Whatever is in your heart is what feeds the soul. And if you have a struggle Satan will give you a thought and depending on what is in the heart is in how you will respond.
